Bridge Church is a community in Martinsburg, West Virginia, committed to connecting people to Jesus and one another. We value biblical truth, genuine relationships, and lives shaped by the gospel.

We are part of the Charis Fellowship and seek to make an impact in our neighborhood and beyond. Our next pastor will help us discern God’s direction, deepen discipleship, and equip the whole church for ministry.

THE ROLE AT A GLANCE

Position: Lead Pastor

Reports to: Elder/Overseer Board

Supervises: Pastoral staff and ministry leaders

THE CALLING

Shepherd the church. Equip the people.

The Lead Pastor serves as Bridge Church’s primary spiritual leader. This pastor will communicate biblical vision, provide pastoral care and day-to-day leadership, and help the congregation fulfill the Great Commission.

Key responsibilities include:

Spiritual Leadership

Model a Christ-centered life of prayer, integrity, and holiness. Provide guidance rooted in Scripture and dependence on the Holy Spirit, leading the church into deeper worship and discipleship.

Preaching and Teaching

Prepare and deliver biblically sound, relevant sermons. Teach God’s Word in a way that encourages transformation and equips believers, while overseeing the theological integrity of teaching ministries.

Vision and Direction

Seek God’s guidance and communicate a clear, biblically aligned vision. Lead with wisdom and discernment, aligning ministries with the church’s mission while remaining open to new approaches that are faithful to Scripture.

Pastoral Care and Relationships

Pray with, counsel, and support the congregation. Care for those who are sick, grieving, or in need, and help foster a culture of biblical love, unity, and reconciliation.

Developing Staff and Volunteers

Recruit, mentor, and develop staff and ministry leaders. Delegate responsibility, empower others to serve effectively, and address conflict with grace and biblical wisdom.

Community Engagement and Outreach

Represent Bridge Church in the community as a witness for Christ. Equip the congregation to share the gospel and build relationships with local and global ministry partners.

Administration and Stewardship

Work with the elders to provide responsible financial and organizational oversight. Help oversee church operations, facilities, and resources with accountability and transparency.

Personal and Professional Growth

Pursue ongoing study, prayer, and development. Maintain a healthy balance between ministry, family, and personal life, and receive feedback with humility.

Ministry Partnerships

Engage with Charis Fellowship ministry partners and participate in local fellowship and ministry relationships. Pursue community partnerships that strengthen Bridge Church’s impact in Martinsburg and Berkeley County.

WHO WE ARE SEEKING

Faithful character. Proven leadership.

We are seeking a pastor with:

• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and evidence of a growing spiritual relationship with Him.

• Active ordination. A completed Master of Divinity degree is preferred; candidates working toward one will be considered.

• Three to five years of pastoral experience.

• Strong preaching, teaching, leadership, pastoral care, and communication skills.

• The ability to develop teams and leaders and build unity within the church.

• A commitment to biblical integrity, prayer, and discipleship.

• Full conviction and alignment with the Bridge Church Statement of Faith.

Above all, we seek a pastor who will love the people, teach the Word, develop leaders, and point our church toward Jesus.
